Located in\nConstanta, the largest city in Dobruja  and South-East Romania, the\nuniversity is in a region in full economic growth, a cultural bridge\nbetween the West and the Orient, an eastern gate to the European\nUnion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nThe uniqueness of Dobruja is\nrelated to the natural paradise of the Danube Delta and the Black Sea\ncoast. The Danube Delta is the second largest and best-preserved of\nthe European Delta, and has entered UNESCO World Heritage in 1991.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nThe row of resorts of the Black Sea\ncoast is a summer tourist destination preferred by both Romanian and\nforeign tourists alike. Its origins are related\nto the Greek settlers in Miletus, who arrived here in the 6th century\nBC Chr. The Romanians,\nAromanians, Bulgarians, Turks, Tartars, Roma, Jews, Greeks,\nArmenians, Russians, Lipovans, Ukrainians, Gagauz, Germans, Italians,\nAlbanians, Serbs, Hungarians also live in harmony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nOvidius University was founded in 1961. It became\na multidisciplinary university in 1990, with numerous degree programs\ncovering the level of bachelor\u2019s, master\u2019s and doctoral degrees. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nThe university bears the name of\nthe Roman poet Publius Ovidius Naso, who spent here in exile the last\nyears of his life. As a tribute to its spiritual patron, the\nUniversity day is celebrated annually on March 20th, the birthday of\nthe great poet. The spiritual patron of the university has left a\ncultural legacy to the whole of humanity, transmitting to the\ngenerations that have come, through the ancient myths of\n<em>Metamorphoses,<\/em>\na message about passion and dedication, about the power of love, of\ncreation, evolution and transformation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ovidius University is the largest European university on the coast of the Black Sea.
